January 2018—The Society of Toxicologic Pathology invites CAP members to consider a call for papers and contribute to the publication of a special 2019 issue focusing on medical devices in pathology in support of preclinical studies. This peer-reviewed issue of Toxicologic Pathology will emphasize traditional topics such as interpretation of pathology results and safety assessment and specific topics such as choice of animal model, practical aspects of animal necropsy, specimen preservation, and preparation techniques in preclinical device studies. New approaches and emerging translational technologies contributing to medical device evaluation will also be presented. The pivotal role of veterinary pathologists as contributors during planning, development, and regulatory approval of medical devices will be highlighted. The issue will include both invited manuscripts and those generated from this targeted call for papers.
