267-Sofia analyzer

February 2014—Telcor’s QML point-of-care software solution now provides connectivity for the Sofia fluorescent immunoassay analyzer.

Sofia, manufactured by Quidel, is a small benchtop analyzer that provides rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases using fluorescent immunochemistry. Sofia received FDA clearance in 2011, and four tests have been approved for use in the U.S. since then. The approved immunoassays detect influenza A and B, strep A, RSV, and elevated levels of hCG.

Telcor released a new software driver for Sofia that allows QML to automatically interface results from the analyzer to a laboratory information system or electronic medical record system, or both. This automation improves operational efficiency within a point-of-care program and helps eliminate errors that can occur with manual charting of test results.

QML provides comprehensive point-of-care management and electronic interfacing for more than 90 POC device types. It was designed as an open system, making it simple to add or exchange devices without downtime.
