Expanded RUO capabilities for MALDI Biotyper, 8/14

August 2014—MALDI Biotyper systems can be configured for further functionality by adding new or expanded research-use only software modules or hardware accessories.

The MBT Explorer module provides multiple bioinformatics approaches for spectra comparison, statistical data interpretation, and the generation of customer-specific reference library entries (main spectra) of strains of special interest. Such sub-libraries can be exported and re-imported in networks of collaborating labs.

BD Diagnostics in April announced an international distributor agreement with Bruker Daltonics to sell and provide frontline technical support for the co-labeled BD Bruker MALDI Biotyper system. The system, combined with automated antimicrobial susceptibility testing on the BD Phoenix microbiology system and BD EpiCenter microbiology data management system, will facilitate a fully integrated, optimized approach for laboratory workflow.
