March 2019—Sarstedt has released its next generation of vacuum filtration products. Options include bottle top filters, receiver bottles, and assembled units available in 250 mL, 500 mL, and 1,000 mL. The filters contain wide, 90-mm diameter polyethersulfone membranes with 0.2 µm and 0.45 µm pore sizes; 500 mL filters are also available with a 0.1 µm pore size for mycoplasma removal.

The bottle tops are one-piece construction to prevent leakage above the neck and reduce overall height. The item number, membrane material, and pore size are indicated on each funnel, and the thread is GL-45. Ergonomic receiver bottles have a wide base, molded grip, clear graduations, and a flat cap, which serves as a handle and provides a writing space. Bottle top filters, receiver bottles, and assembled units are individually packed and are sterile, pyrogen- and endotoxin-free, and noncytotoxic.

Sarstedt also released cell strainers in three pore sizes, 40 µm, 70 µm, and 100 µm; they consist of a polypropylene frame and a nylon mesh with a filtration area of 4.2 sq. cm. The strainer frames are color-coded blue, white, or yellow based on the corresponding mesh pore size and are stackable, allowing for multiple filtration steps at one time. The frames have ventilation cams around the edge to prevent blockage and overflows.
