March 2017—EKF Diagnostics previewed a point-of-care connectivity solution for its range of HbA1c analyzers at Medica 2016 in November in Düsseldorf, Germany. Its connectivity package for Quo-Test and Quo-Lab HbA1c analyzers enable secure, bi-directional communication between the POC analyzers and a multitude of central data management systems. Using the industry-recognized POCT1-A2 communication protocol, EKF’s connectivity solution aims to improve security and quality control for diabetic HbA1c testing.

The connectivity package includes a proprietary connector interface box, cables, and a software upgrade, which enable the company’s HbA1c analyzers to automatically transmit patient data to the majority of lab information management systems or hospital information systems. Traceability and results recall speed are improved by use of patient ID and increased demographic data, such as family name and date of birth. These can now be recorded through either selecting from a preapproved list or via barcode scanner and keyboard. Security and QC are enhanced on Quo-Lab and Quo-Test through user ID and QC lockout functions that are included in the connectivity package.

The company also announced that its Glycated Serum Protein LiquiColor diabetic biomarker test has been verified for use on the Siemens Vista chemistry analyzer.
