April 2017—The Diesse Mini-Cube automated sed-rate instrument is now compatible with 500 µL patient samples in BD Microtainer tubes with K2 EDTA. The Mini-Cube also analyzes standard 13 × 75 mm K2 EDTA tubes with a patient sample fill volume range of 2.0 mL to 4.0 mL.
The Mini-Cube produces erythrocyte sedimentation rate results directly from EDTA tubes without consuming the patient sample. The closed testing system reduces exposure to potentially infectious materials. Results are available in 20 minutes and automatically print and transmit to the LIS. The Mini-Cube has greater than 95 percent correlation to the modified Westergren method with samples collected in standard 13 × 75 mm EDTA tubes. A barcode scanner ensures positive patient identification.
