April 2014—PAML and CellNetix launched a joint venture anatomic pathology reference laboratory separately branded as Symbiodx. A major focus of this venture will be on molecular oncology with a broad offering of molecular tests, including next-generation sequencing, IHC, flow cytometry, and cytogenetics. Anna Berry, MD, formerly an associate professor of pathology at the University of California, San Francisco, will lead the molecular program and will be based in Seattle.
Through Symbiodx, oncologists, pathologists, and specialty-based clinicians will have a single source for highly complex AP testing and the opportunity to build relationships with consulting pathologists. The laboratory’s 50 board certified and fellowship-trained pathologists will answer questions, discuss test results, consult on unusual cases, or arrange for special studies. Interpretive assistance and suggested protocols will be combined to provide insight and direction.
