January 2016—The CAP election to fill four positions on the Board of Governors will take place this summer. The CAP is encouraging its members who have been CAP fellows for at least five years and involved in CAP volunteer activities to consider if they are ready to take the next leadership step.

Two incumbent governors, Bharati Suketu Jhaveri, MD, and Emily Ellen Volk, MD, are eligible for reelection to another three-year term on the Board of Governors. Eric F. Glassy, MD, is filling a governor position by appointment and is eligible to run for a three-year elected term as governor. David Booker, MD, will complete his second term as governor and is ineligible for another term.

Fellows can be placed in nomination for these positions by the Nominating Committee or by submitted petition signed by at least 100 CAP fellows who are eligible to vote. For more information on becoming a Board member, visit www.cap.org (About the CAP > Board of Governors). To request petition forms, contact Tari McDermand (847-832-7260 or tmcderm@cap.org). June 26 is the deadline for nomination by petition.

The CAP Nominating Committee will meet in April to interview candidates for office. Members of the 2016 Nominating Committee are chair Paul N. Valenstein, MD, and members Stephen N. Bauer, MD, Diana Marcella Cardona, MD, Michelle M. Hebert, MD, William F. Hickey, MD, Amanda Erin Wehler, DO, and Qihui J. Zhai, MD.

This year’s Election Oversight Committee consists of chair Richard J. Hausner, MD, and members Ronald B. Lepoff, MD, and Paul Bachner, MD.

The Board of Governors is seeking member candidates to complement the current Board. Candidates should have the following (ranked in order of importance):
