Clinical Lab 2.0, a Project Santa Fe Foundation initiative, released a proclamation during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 14–20, to recognize and celebrate the roles of laboratory medicine and pathology in the field of medicine “as we transition from the business of volume to the business of value” in the delivery of integrated health care. Clinical Lab 2.0 was established to provide thought leadership and help develop the evidence base for the valuation of clinical laboratory services in the next era of global health care.

June 14, 2019—The Project Santa Fe Foundation announced it has filed for nonprofit 501c status and expanded its board of directors. New members of the board include health care leaders from Seattle Children’s Hospital, Intermountain Healthcare, University of Vermont, Mayo Clinic, and NorthShore University HealthSystem.

October 2018—The Project Santa Fe Foundation and LTS Health announced a collaboration to build awareness of the Clinical Lab 2.0 initiative both through the development of an online crowdsourcing platform to facilitate an international conversation and through LTS Health’s organizational footprint in the U.S., U.K., Middle East, and Africa.

January 2018—It was baseball’s Yogi Berra who said, with the unique slant that was his hallmark, “In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.” More vividly, boxer Mike Tyson once summed up the same reality when asked to comment on an opponent’s strategy in an upcoming match: “Everybody has a plan—until they get hit.”
