December 2014—Aquaro Biosystems introduced its PaceSetter section mounting system, a benchtop instrument that automates the transfer of paraffin-embedded tissue sections directly from microtomes to glass slides.
The system attaches to a microtome and uses a water channel to gently transfer sections to glass slides. Features include precise section placement on slides, programmable water temperature control for fewer wrinkles or bubbles, and slide-by-slide programmable section positioning and arrangement (serial, step, or multislide matrix).
