June 2014—Techne added an in situ hybridization adapter to its Prime range of thermal cyclers. By inserting the adapter, a 96-well thermal cycler is converted to an in situ hybridization instrument that can accommodate up to four standard-size microscope slides with ±0.25˚C block uniformity.

The adapter is a single piece of precision-engineered aluminum that is designed for the easy removal of glass slides via the corner cutouts. The aluminum perimeter ridge makes it compatible with the thermal cycler lid, reducing the risk of damage to glass slides and PCR samples if the lid is closed.
