FDA clearance for blood bank software solution, 3/15

March 2015—BBCS received 510(k) clearance for its ABO Wheels, a blood bank software solution that is part of the company’s ABO Suite.

ABO Wheels is a mobile blood-collection application that allows blood centers to conduct paperless donor registration and screening at either a collection facility or a non-fixed site, regardless of connectivity to the main database. The system is able to control multiple blood drives or remote events simultaneously. Real-time entry of blood collection information and comprehensive data transfer to the blood establishment computer software unlocks many opportunities for blood centers to escape the burden of double entry or manual data entry, according to Brian Forbis, vice president of BBCS. ABO Wheels also includes the ability to scan donor fingerprints for secure donor identification.
