June 2018—Becton Dickinson announced the commercial availability of the CE-IVD-marked PAXgene Blood ccfDNA tube within the European Economic Area and Switzerland. The plastic blood collection tube is designed to ensure accurate and reproducible results in molecular diagnostic testing applications, such as cancer and noninvasive prenatal tests, using circulating cell-free DNA. The tube includes a proprietary sample stabilization additive that allows for collection and processing to occur days apart, addressing a logistical hurdle for reference laboratories offering molecular testing outside of the hospital. The BD Vacutainer Hemogard closure technology aims to help protect health care worker safety. The product was developed by PreAnalytix, a joint venture between BD and Qiagen.
