November 2017—Aquaro Histology exhibited its AquaroASM, the company’s device for automating microtomy, at the 43rd Annual National Society for Histotechnology Symposium/Convention in September.

The AquaroASM is designed to allow hands-free microtomy, from cutting sections to relaxing and mounting the sections on microscope slides. The system has a footprint smaller than the water bath it replaces and requires a standard electrical outlet. AquaroASM commands are entered via a conveniently located touch pad and all microtome settings are programmed through the microtome’s user interface.

“The AquaroASM is the first instrument to automate all steps of microtomy while not requiring any changes in workflow. It utilizes existing microtomes to produce high-quality sections in a timely fashion, allowing histologists to multitask while the instrument is mounting sections on slides,” Alberto Elli, CEO of Aquaro Histology, said in a statement.
